Dear Mr. Bee

Please find below the results of analyses we performed on the sample you forwarded to us, received on March 28, 1995. This was a sample of wastewater from your plant processes, which was analyzed in order to assure ourselves that appropriate concentrations of nutrients were present for the growth of large numbers of micro-organisms and to be certain that inhibitory quantities of toxic materials were not present.

Lagoon

pH 5.08 S.U.
T.K.N. 46.62 mg/l
Alkalinity 260 mg/l
Nitrite 0.04 mg/l
Nitrite 1.24 mg/l
Phosphorus as P 40.62 mg/l
COD 16080 mg/l
Suspended Solids 428 mg/l
BOD 3000 mg/l
Ammonia as N 4.95 mg/l

Following this initial analysis, an aliquot of this sample was inoculated with AquaClean at concentrations of 5 parts per million (PPM) and 10 PPM. In addition, a control sample was set up to enable us to determine biological activity rates without the addition of AquaClean. These samples were then monitored over an eight-day period through April 5. The following is a summary of the results of that monitoring: (all data are in mg/l)

All data are in mg/l

Lagoon Sample

  COD SS BOD
  5 PPM 10 PPM Untreated 5 PPM 10 PPM Untreated 5 PPM 10 PPM
3/28/95 16082 16082 16082 428 428 428 3000 3000
4/01/95 12308 15969 ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
4/05/95 4923 6892 12636 46 88 296 907 1168
% Reduction 69.1% 57.1% 21.4% 89.3% 79.4% 30.8% 69.8% 61.1%

As you can see, a very good reduction of COD and suspended solids concentration has been demonstrated over the test period for both inoculation levels. The reduction of COD over the eight days was better than 69 and 57% percent for each respective AquaClean concentration. The suspended solids reduction reached 89.3 and 79.4% percent over the same period of time. We feel quite confident that the addition of AquaClean to your lagoon wastewater treatment system with equivalent retention times will affect similar removal rates of these two parameters. The BOD reduction rates are relevant to the bacterial population as the system develops equilibrium of food to microorganism relationship and will further improve as time passes. The ultimate reduction cannot be predicted by laboratory bench oxidation systems.

We suggest that you add ten gallons of AquaClean as an initial seed into your lagoon, and follow this with one gallon per week for four weeks. Thereafter a maintenance dose of one gallon every other week should be applied.

If we can be of any further service to you please feel free to call at any time.

Sincerely,

William F. Pfeiffer, Ch.D
