Furman FoodAquaClean provided better control of final effluent, reduced BODs and TSS, and lowered odor causing Hydrogen Sulfide. Over time AquaClean continued to drop Hydrogen Sulfide levels, and after three weeks H2S was below 1.0 mg/l. T.P. ASSOCIATES INTERNATIONAL, INC. BackgroundThe sample received by us on May 26, 1988, was identified as Aeration Contents. This sample was analyzed initially to establish baseline data upon which a treatment comparison could be made. This initial analysis provided us with information concerning the concentrations of nutrients present, and other background data from which an initial dosage rate was calculated.
ExperimentalFollowing this initial analysis, aliquots were inoculated with bacteria at concentrations of 5 and 20 parts per million (PPM). These samples, together with an untreated portion of the sample, which served as a control, were placed into a bio-oxidation system that simulates conditions found in your treatment system. These samples were then monitored over an eight (8) day period. The following is a summary of the results of that monitoring:
ConclusionsAs can be seen by the above Treatability Study, excellent response to the addition of AquaClean has been observed in your system. The sample treated at 20 PPM showed good response to bio-degradation of the Hydrogen Sulfide and COD. The efficiency of bio-augmentation can be best observed by comparing the results of the untreated portion of the sample with the results of the treated portion of the sample at the same time. In doing this you can see that accelerated bio-degradation was shown to occur in the reduction of the concentrations of COD and TSS. Similarly the response shown to the oxidation of Hydrogen-Sulfide is also dramatically demonstrated by this Treatability Study. The Hydrogen-Sulfide in the untreated portion of the sample was reduced over the period of the study to 76.4 mg/l while the sample treated at 20 PPM indicated a drop to 4.8 mg/l. As the system continues to operate, the Hydrogen-Sulfide levels will continue to drop and should diminish below 1.0 mg/l within the first 15 to 20 days of operation following the initial seeding.
