Dear Bob:

I am pleased to assist your overseas marketing effort with this letter of recommendation.

Last spring we used AquaClean for the first time. Our application was one of odor control in a 2,000,000 gallon lagoon containing paint wastewater. As you know, our first dosage was not strong enough to overcome the problem. However, with your continued support, we determined the proper amount of AquaClean. The septic odor was eliminated within one-day time and we kept it under control all summer with the recommended maintenance dosage.

Best wishes for the coming New Year.

Yours truly,

C. Hoffer

Dear Mr. Hoffer:

Below are the results of analyses performed on the sample received by us on January 10, 1996. This sample was taken from your lagoon and consisted of both bottom sediment and lagoon wastewater. The sample was analyzed in order to assure ourselves that appropriate concentrations of nutrients were present for the growth of large numbers of micro-organisms and to be certain that inhibitory quantities of toxic materials were not present. Following are the results of the analysis:

Laboratory No. M286-2-1

pH 7.16 S.U. Sulfide (H2S) 1.00 mg/l
TNFLT (SS) 39940.00 mg/l Cd 38.00 mg/l
Ammonia as N 53.21 mg/l Total Chromium 284.00 mg/l
T. Phosphourus 3.27 mg/l Lead 78.00 mg/l
COD 18380.00 mg/l Nickel 96.00 ug/l
Chlorides 58.80 mg/l Zinc 1450.00 ug/l

Following this initial analysis, an aliquot of the sample was inoculated with AquaClean at concentrations of 5 and 10 milligrams per liter (PPM). The samples were than placed into the bio-oxidation system together with an untreated portion of the sample, which serves as a control. Following is a summary of the results of that monitoring:

As you can see, the addition of the bio-augmentation material AquaClean has resulted in marked improvement in COD, TSS, and H2S concentrations. The reduction in COD was 94% for the 10 PPM treatment, while the TSS showed 82.5% reduction. The Hydrogen Sulfide levels were reduced by 99%, which would indicate that the spring turn over odors would be minimal if the use of AquaClean were employed. The freon extractable materials (Grease and Oil) were reduced from 1600 mg/l to 340 mg/l over the eleven day test.

The reduction of solids in the lagoon have been demonstrated in the Laboratory bench test to such a degree that similar reductions should be attainable within 8 months in the actual lagoon.
We recommend the use of AquaClean in the lagoon in a two stage seeding application as follows:

As soon as possible add 10 PPM of AquaClean (20 gallons), follow this with a maintenance dose of 2 gallons per month until June. Then add 3 PPM and continue with the maintenance application of 2 gallons per month. The bottom solids will begin to show reduction within about 3 to 4 weeks.

If we can be of any further service to you please feel free to call at any time.

Sincerely,

William F. Pieiffer, Ph.D
