ACF-32 Swine Lagoon Project–Case History

Farm& Location – Swartz Farm, RR 1 Box 38A, Thompson, PA 17094

Mr. Swartz advised he has used ACF-32 in his two barns for about two years with good results. His use of the product was based on his interest to reduce fly population in his barn and surrounding area. He became aware of ACF-32 for an associate Farmer that used and recommended ACF-32 to improve barn conditions and achieve fly reduction.

Application –Delbert applied ACF-32 to his pits (300,000gallons) at a level slightly below the recommended application rate. He used 6/gal on the first charge after pumping the pit, then 1 gallon “each week” for the following four weeks, and 1/gallon per month until the pit waste was removal for field application.

Results - Delbert advised AquaClean has in fact provided the results he was looking for. He achieved almost complete fly reduction in his barns, and is pleased with the additional benefits received with the application of ACF-32. The most noted benefit was a reduction in the mortality rate from 4 to 5% which declined to 3% during early product introduction and is currently averaging 2%. This is a significant achievement and beneficial in cost control.

In addition to fly reduction, barn odor has been significantly reduced, the surface solids crusting in the pit was eliminated improving the ease of pit waste removal, and a corresponding reduction in bottom solids accumulation is apparent at the time of pumping. There is also a significant reduction in odor when the barn waste is land applied.

  • Resolved surface solids crusting problem

  • Reduced fly populations in and around the barn

  • Significantly reduced odor

  • Reduced mortality rate from 4 to 5% to a current 2%

  • Reduced odor on land application of manure waste
