QUESTIONS (Q) & ANSWERS (A) COMMONLY ASKED
Q. What type of bacteria does AquaClean contain?
A. AquaClean Bacteria Products are
consortiums of up to 32 individual Bacteria
cultures. Our core technology utilizes a
full spectrum of Aerobic, Anaerobic,
Facultative, Chemo- and Photo-Synthetic
Species. AquaClean’s unique formulation
allows for the inclusion of Thiobacillis,
giving the product its purple coloring,
which allows AquaClean to take advantage of
photosynthetic bacteria in open water and
lagoon applications.
Q. What is the difference between AquaClean and other
products available in the market?
A. AquaClean contains bacteria that are
found naturally in our environment,
formulated for extremely long shelf life,
with a very broad spectrum of bacteria
capable of treating a wide range of
environmental conditions and wastewater
problems.
Q. Can AquaClean cause harm to humans or animals?
A. No! AquaClean is approved by the USDA for
use in beef and poultry processing plants. The product is non-toxic and
non-pathogenic.
Q. How long will AquaClean last before usage?
A. AquaClean has over a 5-year shelf
life in unopened packaging, but we recommend
that the product be used within 2 years to
assure maximum potency. Once opened, product should be used
immediately, as the bacteria are living
organisms that, when revived from their
dormant state, will begin to eat and
reproduce.
Q. What effect does AquaClean have?
A. AquaClean dissolves organic solids
into a liquid form able to facilitate and
reduce the frequency of required pump-outs
and lowers sludge build up and handling
costs. The liquid has a higher value of N, P
& K and can be more easily used as
fertilizer. Odors and insects will be either
drastically reduced or eliminated in the
treated area.
Q. How will I know that the AquaClean is working after I
apply it?
A. A gray covering on the water will
form, along with bubbles and foam, as well
as floating pieces of solids may appear. Presence of odors may increase in the
short-term as the production of gases
increases from dissolved solids. But signs of natural restoration of
the environment will quickly be observed.
Q. Will AquaClean have an effect on the thick solid
covering over my lagoon?
A. Yes! The solids will be
dissolved and will eventually
disappear. If the area to be treated
has a thick solid covering, the initial
application of AquaClean should be
increased to assure rapid breakdown of
these solids, which will allow for
reducing dosage to maintenance levels
within several weeks of beginning
treatment.
Q. When is the best time to apply AquaClean?
A. The best time to apply AquaClean is 3 to 4 weeks before the
next pump out. After pump out, a
minimum depth of 6 to 12 inches of
water should be maintained, allowing
for a seeding of the next cycle of
wastewater.
Q. I see that the initial application is much higher than
the standard maintenance. Is it necessary to repeat
this high dose of product after every pump out?
A. No! The initial application
is required only once so long as the
regular maintenance dosage is
followed. The active bacteria will
live, form a film coating to surface
areas, and reproduce quickly in the
liquid remaining after pump out. The
exception to this can happen if the
wastewater system is overloaded, or put
into shock by release of
anti-microbial. But re-inoculating the
wastewater can restore the system
quickly and easily.
Q. How do I apply the AquaClean?
A. Apply directly to the lagoon
or wastewater holding tanks. If the
system has a problem with solids
buildup, the product should be applied
as far away from the pumping station or
exit piping as possible.
Q. My lagoon has a thick solids buildup at the bottom.
What effect will the AquaClean have on these
solids?
A. We have documented cases of
solids that have more than 5 feet of
buildup, and after using AquaClean,
this buildup was eliminated and/or
reduced to only 6 inches.
Q. I have agitation (mixing) machines in the lagoon.
Should I use them to spread the AquaClean?
A. If it is impossible to turn
the mixing machines off, they will not
affect the efficacy of the AquaClean.
However, ideally we recommend that the
water not be agitated, unless extra
oxygen is required for very difficult
to degrade waste compounds or to
compensate for short retention time in
the system.
